ALEX DUGAN aka Raptor

NICKNAME : Raptor

Alex is known to windsurfers as 'Raptor', the origins of the name are deeply immersed in the depth of time, not to mention the depth of the cider in Andy's glass.

WINDSURFING LEVEL : Fabulous

Have you ever met one of those annoying people who's 'a natural'? Most of us slog away for years learning to windsurf, when he was young Alex tried it and found that seemingly without effort he was just very good at it. So good in fact that at one stage of his development he was sponsored by the Newtownards Sailing Club.

GREATEST MOMENT :

Within weeks of being on the water he was learning to carve gybe and these days he's not happy unless he's doing some airborne move with a name related to Star-Trek. He's done well in competitions too.

WORST MOMENT :

Being one of the first in our  group to have a helmet camera which he deployed in Teneriffe. Of course it records whatever you look at and so we settled down in the pub to watch the (unedited) video from the Spanish beach with lots of suitably unclad young ladies on it. And we saw what Raptor was looking at ....

SLANDEROUS INFORMATION :

He looked about 12 for the first 10 or more years of his windsurfing. This kid would go up to Donegal sandwiched in a van between Jarlath and Big Robert and we often wondered what he learned up there?

WHERE IS HE NOW :

Still working in between windsurfing. Happiest in waves, he sails a lot around the County Down coast and of course at Magheroarty.
